Exchange account?

It looks like I'll have to install Office 2003 to access my exchange mail account - is this correct? -- Tekguru (Daron Brewood) MS-MVP/Mobile Devices

Yeh, and also if the server is configured, you can use the Exchange Web Access as well :o)

Well, Exchange and Office Outlook 2003 are like bread and butter, but Windows Mail and Outlook Express supports Active Directory, so you should be able to receive e-mail through Windows Mail from an Exchange server. When you moving to different categories now such as Share Calendars and Global Contacts, Exchange would be most appropriate. Also, you are in Pocket PC's which noted in your signature, so Outlook would be the best way to go when sychronizing data between your mobile device and you PC. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Cheers Zack / Andre, that is what I thought too with reference to Outlook, for some reason though no matter what I do the damned thing will not connect to the Exchange server no ideas why it just wont.
So for the moment at least I must use MCE2005 for mail. Plus each time I try and post to the newsgroup using Windows Mail I get port 80 warning errors. -- Tekguru (Daron Brewood) MS-MVP/Mobile Devices

Something which I find great to use - if you have reoccuring popups for some reason and you can't find out the problem or a work around... sometimes when you're synching newsgroups and it comes up that box saying "Cancel" or "Wait", I use something called "PTFB - Push the Freakin' Button" which lets you configure the computer to click buttons for you ;o) It's great - now I can sync all my NG's and set PTFB going, and go to bed and know it'll be done in the morning.

Might be related to the Communities Feature. Try disabling it in Tools/Options/General. Did you make any changes to the default firewall settings or have a third-party firewall software installed?

Ok, so we need to investigate why you are getting this error. Port 80 is the default HTTP port and usually should be open. Did you change the settings of the Vista firewall regarding the blocking of outgoing traffic? Or are you running a third-party firewall (including Onecare) that blocks outgoing traffic? If so, make sure Windows Mail has full access and see if that solves it.

Nothing changed at all, and OneCare will not install under Vista for me, the web says only XP is supported.

Have no clue, then. Maybe you could check with Andre here what common programs you both have running or other identical system configurations.
